Amber Wendler
Ph.D. Candidate in Biological Sciences

I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Tech, an Interfaces of Global Change Fellow, and National Science Foundation GRFP Fellow. I received my Bachelor's degree in Biology from Boston University in 2018. In addition to research, I'm passionate about making STEM and the outdoors more inclusive, and storytelling to amplify voices that have been silenced and excluded. I'm the community engagement specialist for Monuments Across Appalachian Virginia and co-editor of Been Outside: Adventures of Black Women, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming People in Nature.

Research Areas of Interest

Behavioral ecology, ornithology, physiology, and conservation biology.
